"Stare-Offs and Swimming"
It felt good to get back to our regular routine this week! On Monday we were able to get into the pool at the CGC and get a fantastic workout in. The students swam 0.5km before they had some free time on the rope, diving board, basketball hoop, etc. For some, it had been years since they swam that many lengths so it was great to encourage them to use swimming as an alternate workout.
On Tuesday, we finished our Food Inc. unit after watching Chapter 4 and 5, and ended with a few more focus questions.
"Do you think everyone has the right to healthy food?"
"When deciding what to eat, how much should we consider the workers who pick, process and transport it?"

For our Leadership component on Wednesday Tayla introduced us to a game called "Slack Jaw Dance Off", with the objective being to make your partner crack a smile. The kicker, is that after 30 seconds one of the contestants can drop their jaw (hence the slack jaw name). It was HILARIOUS. Khandi and Jack faced off in the final, with Khandi being the ultimate champion. Thanks for introducing us to the game, Tayla! We were back into the wellness room on Tuesday and Wednesday, which was great. Their progress is evident, so I am now introducing more advanced balance and movement exercises.
On Thursday we were fortunate enough to have Teena Dickson come in and show us an Arctic Sports video (on VHS!). The students have now fully started their Arctic Sports assignment, and presentations will be starting in a couple weeks.
