Colours Day and Bannock
The week started with some session planning and swimming! It was their chance to take what they've learned this semester, and apply it to their own workouts for the next two weeks. As a group they discussed and planned what exercises, how many reps, how many sets, and who was going to demonstrate and instruct the rest of the class on each. The first group went on Tuesday, and it was fantastic.
Reuben and Ashley presented their Arctic Sport Presentation this week with Triple Jump. It's similar to the well-known triple jump, but involves jumping with both feet instead of one. Good job! Jake and Logan did their leadership activities this week as well. Jake's required communication and thinking, as someone had to lead another person through a maze blindfolded. The trick was that the common direction words were not allowed. Thanks, Jake! Logan's was an activity outside that involved the whole group battling against one another to score. Thanks, Logan!
With the end of the school almost coming to a close, it was time for "Colours Day" on Thursday, also known as awards day. The three awards and recipients that were presented for the LEAD class were as follows:
Male Athlete Development Award: Trygg Jensen
Female Athlete Development Award: Sam Wintemute
Award in Leadership: Teah Dickson
It was a fun day at gymnastics in the afternoon, with a fairly tough warm-up. It was a relay race through the blue-box-quicksand. Let's just say you were lucky if you had long legs for this one. They also spent a good amount of time on the beam, then continued to work on front-handsprings and getting up on the bars.

On Friday it was our last day of Arctic Sports with Teena Dickson. She brought some pretty delicious bannock to celebrate, and finished off with some new games. Thanks so much Teena! Here is a slideshow of some of the sports we've done in the last few weeks:
