What are the PCSS LEAD Programs?
LEAD 10-12 The purpose of the LEAD 10-12 Leadership Education and Athlete Development program is to engage Porter Creek Secondary School students to participate in a combination of active living, wellness, leadership, and the essential streams of strength and conditioning. Along with the physical aspect, this program will also offer modern, interactive, educational seminars on topics necessary for them to be life-long learners in the field of health and physical education, and guest speakers specific to those topics. Aspects of First Nations traditional games and culture will also be examined in relation to the strength and conditioning component. This program not only caters to the student looking to maximize his or her training efficiency, but also engages students looking to maximize their potential both athletically and academically through health and wellness. Application required. LEAD 8 The LEAD 8 Experiential PE and Traditional Knowledge course is an elective that takes place for one block in the afternoon first semester (Fall 2024). Students will take part in fun, experiential activities and field trips involving a variety of physical activities, as well as engage in workshops and seminars involving First Nations traditional knowledge.
